TRI INNOVATION COMPETITION
Whats up boys and girls. Recently there has been a competition underway in England, in search of innovation in the sports industry. 5 mil pounds have been aloted for several wining ideas. I will be entering TRI and The Federation into this competition. Along side the game, league and ball, I will be presenting associated issues, structures and equipment that will help prove TRI’s unique business viability. The competition seeks to implement wining ideas into the 2012 olympics. Even if TRI is not a wining choice. The exposure will be massive. S far I have Godfrey helping me, with future stadium concepts, I hope Adam and Mike will join me soon as well with protective equipment and maybe uniform design along side of my own. I have room for film editing and retouching now, and of course as always graphic designers when we solidify the direction and get more raw footage from games.
We had a game this past sunday, the 3rd ever internationaly. It was a good display of development and game maturity.
I am no longer working at my old job, so I have been devoting lots of time to TRI and also the dust masks. When I make more headway with a few potential factories to help me make my prototypes for marketing and testing I will discuss with the people I am working with, Lipe, Jose and Aaron about the next step.
I estimate about 2 months until I am holding a prototype, even if that includes making it myself.

Retouching Work I’ve done
So apart from my pretty pictures of skies, sand and water… I need to make a living using the tools of my craft. Ever since I moved to New York a lot of my work has been retouching (using PhoSho of course). Photography is great, but it’s nice to sit back turn on the music/news, etc and just work on one of these projects.
The hardest part me is usually negotiating a price from the start because not every project contains an obvious set of solutions and of course your estimate should assume unknowns, while at the same time not turning off the client to a ridiculously high price point. Sometimes it turns to be easier than one expects, but usually it takes a bit longer (back and forths between client, etc).
I did this specific project with for the National Football League. This particular project was technically challenging because I had to shoot (the camera) and place other imagery (new logo, ball) on the image and of course: Make it look authentic as possible. I had to shoot a very old antique camera using a little room they provided me that barely had adequate lighting, as well as placing other items (such as the ball) in the image… and of course not lit specifically for this project. Nonetheless you have to make things work and luckily working with the people there is great so they really provide great feedback and never get scared by “work in progress” images. As you can imagine the versions in between the first and final may frighten people, but like drawing, retouching requires a build up.
In this project the client wanted me to “update” an existing image and replace/take out items from the original. I’ve attached a few images of the items, as well as the final product so you can see a bit more in detail how things change from start to finish, and what other elements need to come together (extending the film strip for instance); Shadow, lighting, dimension, depth, weight, etc
The final image contains the camera, the new logo, the new ball, the extended film strip and canister, etc etc…
A little example of retouching work I do.
Have a fun and happy Memorial Day.

Joe Ramón Márquez Whore of a Blog Post
So I’ve never have really been into blogging or being a hore about my personal life, but somehow it makes sense to talk a bit more about it here. Anyhow I thought I’d include some photos from a particular point in my trip to Uruguay. This is close to the end of the trip when we went to a town called Balizas (something like that). A fishermen’s town full of dirt road, hippies and small restaurants. Everyone is extremely nice and humble and the food is amazing. It definitely felt like being in an entirely different world because over here their world revolves around Southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Luckily this place is non touristy so it was great to get some of the down to earth intercaction with the local the neighboring city Punta del Este left me unfullfilled with. Here are a few images for those who haven’t logged in on facebook to check them out.
I’ve been playing more and more these days with producing imagery that diverts from the usual high saturation/contrasty approach.
So anyhow, just thought I’d share some thoughts and imagery
